Cambridge, MA, September 07, 2023 — Academic Leadership Group (ALG), in partnership with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), received a gold 2023 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Award® in Learning and Development, recognizing the leadership coaching program it offers as part of SWE’s Academic Leadership for Women in Engineering (ALWE) program.
“We were thrilled to have this recognition from the Brandon Hall Group™, one of the foremost learning industry award programs,” said Julie Jungalwala, President of the Academic Leadership Group. “Adding coaching to a leadership development program is a proven approach to enhance effectiveness and impact.”
The group and peer coaching component of the ALWE program was designed and delivered by ALG last year and is being offered again in 2023-24. Adding coaching to ALWE increased the focus on core leadership development activities, including enhancing self-awareness, practicing communication skills, and learning through application and reflection.
The coaching component also provided opportunities for enhanced networking and mentoring during structured group and peer coaching experiences, where participants shared and provided input on their strengths, visions and goals.
Coaching benefits include developing participants’ self-awareness of their leadership abilities, applying concepts learned from coaching and the ALWE program to specific situations and challenges, and building mutually supportive relationships with other program participants.
“Excellence Award winners are shown to be organizations that truly value their employees and invest in them through their human capital management programs. These HCM programs have been validated as best in class for business value and the impact on the employees themselves,” said Brandon Hall Group™ Chief Operating Officer Rachel Cooke, the HCM Excellence Awards® program leader.
The award was announced on September 17, 2023. You can view the complete list of winners here.
The Academic Leadership Group also offers individual leadership coaching for junior and senior faculty at top universities nationally, as well as leadership development and higher education consulting.
“An outgrowth of our coaching and leadership development work,” Jungalwala said, “is groundbreaking work our firm is currently getting ready to roll out on human possibility and reinvention.” She explained, “For the past three years, we have been researching how people reinvent their professional identities to enhance purpose and motivation, and we look forward to sharing this soon.”
