HCMx Radio: Quality of Hire is the Most Important Metric

Brandon Hall Group’s recent research reported that quality of hire is the most important talent acquisition metric for 92% of organizations. However, companies still struggle with finding talent and, most importantly, the right talent.

iCIMS received a Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award in Best Advance in Employee Referral Technology because of how it helps clients effectively navigate through this journey to finding the right talent. In our latest episode of HCMx Radio, iCIMS Chief Marketing Officer Susan Vitale offers viewpoints on finding, nurturing, hiring, and retaining high-quality talent.

hcmx logoThe industry is drastically changing and the methods and approaches used by hiring organizations and recruitment professionals is far more sophisticated and advanced than ever before. There is so much effort that goes into sourcing for talent and building a talent pool of candidates. In the past, a lot of this work went to waste because there wasn’t an efficient way or system to nurture the candidates if they were not the right fit for the specific job at that particular time.

Now, with the advancement of technology and the multiple channels that are leveraged during the recruitment process — such as social, mobile, video screening, employee referral systems, candidate management systems (CMS), and onboarding, among others –  talent acquisition is more flexible, dynamic, and strategic.

I’m hearing more often that the process of talent acquisition is similar to sales and marketing, because of the nature and effort to source and retain a candidate or client. There is an art and science to both. Relying on your instinct is important, but not enough. How many times have you hired someone based on their skills and experience and your initial interactions, only to be disappointed? This happens too often. It’s because the organization doesn’t have an effective employee value proposition in place, and doesn’t utilize tools that make it more likely that the candidates fit the organization’s values, culture and expectations.

When companies have an effective strategy in place that is enabled by advanced technology, they are in a favorable position to acquire the highest quality of talent. Combining your process with the right tools and systems allows you not to just be a passenger in this journey, but to be the pilot.
