The value proposition for Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) has never been greater. Companies are struggling to identify and attract talent with intense pressure from the business. Also, the increase in today’s flexible workforce adds an extra layer of complexity since most organizations are unclear how to manage and engage contingent workers. Companies need help recruiting a modern workforce and they are looking at RPO and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) for this support. The challenge is often finding one provider that can handle both.

Last week, colleague Kyle Lagunas and I attended Randstad Sourceright’s analyst event in Atlanta where we gained insight about this provider’s strategies and services to support clients in both contingent and full-time employee recruitment. Although Randstad is one of the largest global providers handling RPO, MSP, blended workforce, and independent contractor services, they are not always recognized as a forward-thinking provider. Our meetings last week showed us a side of Randstad that is less traditional and more innovative. With a rock star team and a commitment to this idea of blended workforce solutions that can support both contingent and full-time workers, Randstad is a company worth watching. Here are a few things we want to share about this provider:
- Centers of Excellence. RPO is no longer about filling positions as quickly as possible. It involves a strategic partnership where service providers support clients in improving efficiencies, attracting quality talent and strengthening the candidate experience. Randstad Sourceright has developed Centers of Excellence that offer clients services in areas such as employer branding, diversity and inclusion, veteran hiring, and sourcing. These CoE’s provide companies with expertise and a proven methodology for improving their recruitment efforts.
- Technology. Technology is becoming ingrained in most RPO deals, yet few providers truly understand the complexity of the recruitment technology market. Randstad Sourceright supports clients with the implementation and support of technology outside of traditional recruitment, including Recruitment Marketing Platforms, innovative search tools for figuring out Big Data, and employer branding platforms. They are partnering with many up-and-comers in the talent acquisition technology space.
- Independent Contractors. A large percentage of the contingent workforce is comprised of independent contractors (ICs), highly skilled knowledge workers who are able to quickly close skill gaps and improve productivity and performance for organizations. Randstad Sourceright is helping companies mitigate the risk of misclassification of these workers and also engage them in a way that drives performance.
- Innovation Fund. Launched in March 2014, Randstad’s Innovation Fund invests in technology that will help its clients improve their overall recruitment functions and rethink areas of recruitment that are ripe for change including online reference calls.
