HCM Excellence Conference 2015 and the KPIs of High-Performance Onboarding

Although it’s still a few months away, I’m getting very excited about Brandon Hall Group’s HCM Excellence Conference 2015. The conference coincides with the 20th anniversary of our annual Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards Program, which recognizes organizations around the world that have successfully deployed programs, strategies, modalities, processes, systems, and tools that have had a significant impact in key areas of human capital management.

Note: Winners of the 2014 Excellence Awards in Learning, Talent Management/HR, and Sales Enablement will be announced Sept. 9 in a live webinar event — but we’re still accepting applications through Sept. 12 for the 2014 Excellence in Technology Awards.

Why You Should Attend HCM Excellence Conference 2015

While I’m certainly looking forward to meeting our award winners, I’m even more excited to learn from them – and this is a key theme of our HCM Excellence Conference. Many of the sessions will spotlight case studies taken directly from our award winners, allowing us to dig into these initiatives and identify key practices for any organization looking to improve performance in select areas of HCM.

Join me on January 29th for the informative session, Getting to the Heart of High-Performance Onboarding.  I’ll be moderating a panel on high-performance onboarding where we’ll explore real-life examples of highly effective onboarding programs, and examine the measurable benefits these programs have had on things like new hire retention and employee engagement. The panel features experts in various stages of overhauling their onboarding programs – including those who have just implemented a new program to those who have received numerous awards and accolades for their advancements in onboarding over the last several years.

I published a report earlier this year, called High-Performance Onboarding: A New Model for Excellence, which listed five essential elements of high-performance onboarding, and will serve as a jumping off point for the conversation. I’m particularly passionate about the role onboarding plays in driving key talent metrics, and am already fired up to discuss how various companies are incorporating these elements into their onboarding – and to what end result.

In preparation for the panel I’ve been investigating key performance indicators (KPIs) of high-performance onboarding. I’ll be publishing initial findings in a forthcoming report, but wanted to quickly share the three things I continuously see incorporated into the most effective onboarding programs:

  • A streamlined process that maintains momentum built up in the interview and hiring process.
  • Tools and technology for enabling new hires to succeed in the near and the long-term.
  • Widespread collaboration – from orientation and training to assimilation and socialization.

I hope to see you at the conference. If you register before Aug. 31, you benefit from our Super Early Bird rates. Brandon Hall Group members and awards applicants also have special rates. If you have any questions about the conference, please feel free to reach out to me.

Until next time …
