Guest: Manjit Sekhon, Director of Learning Experience Design, Intrepid Learning
Host: Rachel Cooke, Chief Operating Officer, Brandon Hall Group
In this edition of HCMx Radio, we talk with Manjit Sekhon, director of Learning Experience Design at Intrepid Learning. She is responsible for creating Corporate MOOC solutions for clients, which incorporate short-form content with social and collaborative learning features.
In our interview, Manjit shares the drivers behind Intrepid’s development of the Declaration of Modern Learner Rights. The declaration was created to address the rights of the learner and how learning can be more impactful to drive greater performance for the business.
The three themes of modern learner rights are:
- Treat learners with respect – don’t patronize them. They don’t need to read everything you create, only what is important to them.
- Ruthless relevance – give the learner the opportunity to share their insights and when they do, the learning becomes more relevant.
- Communication – not just around the expectations of the program, but allow the learners to communicate their insights and make it easy for them to share.
“When you respect the learner rights – then you get more engagement and results!” Manjit said.
