  • I am excited to announce the launch of the Women in Technology Leadership Toolkit, a collaboration between Brandon Hall Group and Blue Circle Leadership. We partnered with their renowned founder, Bonnie St. John to create a robust toolkit to empower women and men as advocates for change within their organizations.

    Nowhere is there more opportunity – or potential disaster – for gender balance in the workplace than in the tech sector. Technology is changing our world at its most rapid pace in history. And the representation of women in technology leadership lags behind national norms at an alarming rate.

    We spent more than a year conducting qualitative and quantitative research to help clarify the context, communicate the business case and engage others in making bold changes for advancing women in technology leadership.

    The toolkit provides resources for leaders to expand the number of women in technology, so their organizations can compete in the global marketplace for the best talent — regardless of gender.

     

    There are three parts to the toolkit:

    • Part 2: Building and Using a Tailored Business Case
    • Part 3: Creating and Sustaining Change

    Thanks to all who attended our 5th annual Excellence Conference. For those unable to make it, here is what you missed…

     

    We kicked things off with a pre-conference workshop highlighting data and analytics, and how to make more effective decisions through data analysis. Our speakers shared great insights on the latest research and innovations in human capital management. A special thank you goes to keynote speaker, Jenny Dearborn who shared her vision of the digital transformation of work and how it will affect our future generations.

     

    We had great sessions on Friday with Verizon and McKinsey revealing their latest research on VR and learning technology. Throughout all our sessions, we heard about machine learning and artificial intelligence applied to corporate learning and employee training. New technologies are also emerging in other areas of human capital management including onboarding technology, which aids in increasing the success of new hires.

     

    And of course, the awards celebration was an unforgettable night recognizing more than 120 organizations for achieving significant and measurable benefits to their business. Congratulations to the 2018 Award Winners.

    Because of its numerous holidays and celebrations, December is a very special month. Christmas, Kwanzaa and Chanukah are just a few of the many special occasions.

    In the United States, the most commonly recognized and celebrated December holiday is Christmas. But with the increased number of remote and international workers, it is important to recognize traditions across all cultures to promote and maintain a diverse and inclusive organization.

    It’s not just a feel-good proposition. Recognizing cultural differences within your company pays off in increased employee engagement and a richer company culture. It is also a great way to broaden your organization’s talent pool by ensuring that a diverse mix of individuals are welcome.
